REST IN PEACE, BRIAN
Brian Douglas Wilson passed away on June 11th at the age of 82, just shy of his birthday on June 20th. Brian’s family released the following statement: “We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now. Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world. Love and Mercy.”
The Beach Boys followed with: “The world mourns a genius today, and we grieve for the loss of our cousin, our friend, and our partner in a great musical adventure. Brian Wilson wasn’t just the heart of the Beach Boys — he was the soul of our sound. The melodies he dreamed up and the emotions he poured into every note changed the course of music forever. His unparalleled talent and unique spirit created the soundtrack of so many lives around the globe, including our own. Together, we gave the world the American dream of optimism, joy, and a sense of freedom — music that made people feel good, made them believe in summer and endless possibilities. We are heartbroken by his passing. We will continue to cherish the timeless music we made together and the joy he brought to millions over the decades. And while we will miss him deeply, his legacy will live on through his songs and in our memories.”
Al Jardine said, “Brian Wilson, my friend, my classmate, my football teammate, my Beach Boy bandmate and my brother in spirit, I will always feel blessed that you were in our lives for as long as you were. I think the most comforting thought right now is that you are reunited with Carl and Dennis, singing those beautiful harmonies again. You were a humble giant who always made me laugh and we will celebrate your music forever. Brian, I’ll really miss you…still I have the warmth of the sun within me tonight.”
We will miss you forever, Brian.
AL JARDINE RELEASES NEW 3-TRACK SINGLE “ISLANDS IN THE SUN”
Al Jardine has just released a new single called “Islands In The Sun” just in time for summer. The digital single features the title track plus two new songs and is now available from Universal Music (UMe). In a friendly nod to “Kokomo,” “Islands In The Sun” is a Caribbean flavored fantasy in a Beach Boys meets Belafonte style that perfectly captures the mood and tropical lifestyle of the West Indies. The song features beautiful lead vocals from Al and his son Matt Jardine plus a guest vocal from Beach Boy Bruce Johnston along with a children’s choir from three local elementary schools. “‘Islands In The Sun’ captures that special magic we felt and sang about on Beach Boys songs like ‘Island Girl’ and ‘Kokomo’,” says Al, adding, “It was inspired by the enchanting calypso sounds of Harry Belafonte and Bob Marley’s laid-back reggae vibe. Now wouldn’t it be fun if we could bottle up the sun!”
The single “Islands In The Sun” was produced by Al Jardine with Stevie Heger (co-producer of A Postcard from California) and longtime Beach Boys/Brian Wilson sound engineer Jeff Peters and mastered by David Glasser.

SPCA MONTEREY COUNTY
For his birthday this year, Al Jardine asked for donations for the SPCA Monterey County to help animals affected by the recent fires in California. The SPCA, a nonprofit, independent, donor-supported humane society, has been serving the animals and people of Monterey County since 1905, and with the recent River, Dolan and Carmel fires, has had to rescue, shelter, evacuate and treat many animals in the area.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED
